Under pressure, Exxon drops ALEC:
Exxon just announced that the company is finally cutting ties with the extremist right-wing American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and joins the long list of companies that have severed ties. After enough public pressure, even Exxon had to admit that ALEC’s extreme climate denial is too much…and given #ExxonKnew, that’s saying a lot.
Exxon has been funding climate disinformation for decades and was a top funder of ALEC. With Exxon’s departure from ALEC, we’re one step closer to ALEC going down for good. Tell Congress: It’s time for Scott Pruitt to resign or be fired!:
How does Scott Pruitt still have a job? With every passing day the list of Pruitt’s scandals grows larger, and ever more bizarre. It’s enough to make your head spin.
This week we learned that Pruitt had his staff assisting him with improper personal tasks – like trying to procure a used mattress from the Trump hotel (yes, you read that right). Pruitt also used his position, and his staff’s time, to try to pursue a Chick-fil-A franchise for his wife.
And then we found out that he had his expensive security detail running personal errands, like picking up dry cleaning (as well as his favorite fancy moisturizing lotion.) Amid growing scandals, it’s no wonder that this week two more of Pruitt’s top aides resigned.

Pope Tells Oil Executives to Act on Climate: ‘There Is No Time to Lose’:
“Will we turn the corner in time? No one can answer that with certainty,” the pope said. “But with each month that passes, the challenge of energy transition becomes more pressing.”
He called on the participants “to be the core of a group of leaders who envision the global energy transition in a way that will take into account all the peoples of the earth, as well as future generations and all species and ecosystems.”
